Nominations for the CHEST 2011 Honor and Memorial Awards and Lectures are being accepted now. Review the list of awards and lectures, then nominate colleagues who should be recognized.
Call for Topics
Submission Deadline: November 30 • 12:00 pm (CT)
Submit your ideas for topics and faculty for CHEST 2011. All topic suggestions related to pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine will be considered. The theme for CHEST 2011 is "Collaboration, Integration, and Cooperation," and the program committee is particularly interested in topics related to the following:
- Global pulmonary infections.
Examples: the management of extensively drug-resistant TB or multidrug-resistant TB, bacterial resistance and epidemiologic differences worldwide, public health challenges, influenza A (H1N1) or pandemic prevention strategies, pertussis outbreak.
- Use of technology and biotechnology in chest medicine.
Examples: electronic health-care records, telemedicine, nitric oxide in the detection of asthma, vaccines, minimally invasive thoracic surgery, genomics in lung cancer.
- Different geographic perspectives presented on a panel.
Example: how chronic asthma treatment is handled in the United States vs India vs other countries.
- Critical care management.
Examples: mechanical ventilation strategies, hospital-acquired infections, airway management, ultrasonography, ARDS, critical care in underdeveloped or rural regions.
- Sleep medicine.
Examples: obstructive sleep apnea, polysomnography, preparing for a career change to sleep medicine.
- Global differences in health-care systems and their impacts upon clinical practice.
The program committee is looking for ideas on how to address this topic. Send your suggestions.
- Health-care team-based presentations.
Include the perspectives of physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and others.
The above areas are examples of what the program committee will be looking for in submissions. It is not an all-inclusive list. The committee anticipates excellent submissions from other clinical areas.
