The CHEST Foundation helps patients live and breathe easier through its work in four key areas: tobacco prevention, humanitarian service, clinical research, and critical care/end-of-life care. It is the philanthropic arm of the American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP), an international medical society and leading resource for improvement in pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine worldwide.
The CHEST Foundation was founded in 1996 by ACCP members who were fueled by a philanthropic spirit and driven by commitment to improve lung health worldwide. Since its inception, The CHEST Foundation has awarded more than $3.5 million to ACCP members to fund cutting-edge clinical research, leadership, and volunteer service that improves patient care around the world. In addition, The Foundation supports initiatives and offers an extensive line of products to promote tobacco prevention and cessation, improve end-of-life care, and much more.
These initiatives emanate from The CHEST Foundation's important mission, which is "to provide resources to advance the prevention and treatment of diseases of the chest."
